The United Nations General Assembly granted India's request in March 2021 to designate this year, 2023, as the International Year of Millets, citing the potential of millets as an affordable and nutrient-dense food option in light of global population increase. A wide range of grains are categorized as millets, which include pearl, foxtail, proso, barnyard, little, and kodo.
Millets include fonio, sorghum (sometimes called giant millet), teff, pearl, proso, foxtail, barnyard, tiny, kodo, brown top, finger, and Guinea millets, among many more types of cereals. They are a major source of nourishment for millions of people in India. Where food security is deeply embedded in Indigenous Peoples' customs and culture, and where it is culturally meaningful, it is guaranteed.
Our students of Pharm.D made posters and participated in the programme and explained about nutrition and healthy balanced diet.
